OnePlus Nord CE 4 Review: Powerful Mid-ranger with Great Battery Life
The smartphone arena has been buzzing with excitement after the much-anticipated launch of the OnePlus Nord CE 4 in India. This device, unveiled on April 1st, marks the brand’s consistent effort to dominate the mid-range segment, following the successful OnePlus 12 series launch. The Nord CE 4 brings to the table a mix of impressive features, including a hefty 5,500mAh battery, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, and an eye-catching dual camera setup. After spending more than a week with the device, it’s time to dive into what makes this smartphone tick.
Unboxing: A Premium Experience Awaits
The unboxing experience OnePlus offers, regardless of the series, remains unmatched. The Nord CE 4 comes in a sleek black box that reveals not just the smartphone but also a host of accessories. These include a 100W SUPERVOOC adapter, a red charging cable, a SIM ejector tool, a matching case, and some paperwork. It’s a presentation that sets the stage for the quality of the product inside.
Design and Display: Elegance Meets Efficiency
Our review unit, the Celadon Marble variant, is nothing short of stunning. OnePlus has ingeniously combined seafoam green with pearlescent white to create an elegant wave pattern on the back. For those inclined towards a darker palette, the Dark Chrome colourway is an excellent alternative. The design has seen an upgrade with a modern vertical pill-shaped cutout for the dual-camera setup, adding to its premium look. Despite its plastic back, the Nord CE 4 feels durable and comfortable to hold, boasting a slim profile and excellent handling.
The display is a real treat. The 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel, with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1100 nits of peak brightness, produces vivid colours and crisp visuals. This makes the Nord CE 4 a fantastic device for enjoying multimedia content.
Performance and Battery: Going the Distance
Performance-wise, the Nord CE 4 shines, thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. The device handles everything from gaming to daily tasks smoothly. Although the device warms up a bit during intense gaming, it doesn’t affect the overall experience. Benchmark scores are impressive, reflecting the device’s strong performance credentials.
The real star of the show, however, is the battery. Equipped with a massive 5,500mAh capacity and 100W SUPERVOOC charging, the Nord CE 4’s battery life is exceptional, easily lasting a day and beyond on a single charge.
Software and Other Improvements
Running on OxygenOS 14 based on Android 14, the software experience on the Nord CE 4 is smooth and clutter-free, aside from a few pre-installed apps that can be easily removed. Features like O-Haptics and Aqua Touch technology showcase OnePlus’s attention to detail, enhancing the user experience.
Camera Performance: Capturing Moments with Clarity
The dual rear camera setup, with a 50MP primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, delivers pleasing results in various lighting conditions. While there is no telephoto lens, the device supports up to 20x digital zoom. The primary camera impresses with its ability to capture vibrant and detailed shots, even in low-light conditions.
Verdict: A Compelling Mid-range Option
The OnePlus Nord CE 4 ticks nearly every box for a mid-range smartphone, offering a robust battery, fast charging, powerful performance, and a sleek design. With a competitive price point, it stands out in the crowded under ₹25,000 segment as a balanced option that offers excellent value for money.
