Geetaj Channana, head of corporate strategy at vivo India, emphasized, “The past decade for vivo India has been defined by impact, resilience, and commitment. From our beginnings as a newcomer, we now proudly serve over 120 million vivo smartphones used by proud Indians today.”

Building a Local Component Ecosystem

vivo’s localization strategy also took center stage. The company currently collaborates with over 30 local component suppliers to shore up the local ecosystem and enable exports. This includes sourcing components like stabilization modules for cameras, OLED displays, and memory modules.

“We have nurtured partnerships with around 30+ suppliers operating in India, creating direct and indirect employment for over 4,000 Indians,” the company stated, reinforcing their commitment to local manufacturing and high-quality standards.

Future Plans and Market Expansion

Looking ahead, vivo is set to move to a new manufacturing facility in Noida in 2024. This shift promises to include higher-value component sourcing locally, thus increasing value addition. The company also aims to expand its market presence, having already established strong positions in countries like Malaysia and Thailand.
