Google’s AI Photo Editing Tools Now Free for All Google Photos Users
Google is making its AI-powered photo editing tools available to all Google Photos users, regardless of their device or subscription status. Starting May 15, everyone can access features like Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Portrait Light, and Magic Editor for free.
Hardware and Software Requirements
To use these features, your device must meet certain hardware and software requirements. Your phone should be running Android 8.0 or later, your iPhone should be on iOS 15 or later, and your Chromebook should have ChromeOS version 118+ installed. You also need at least 4GB of RAM.
Features for All
The following features will be available to all Google Photos users:
* Magic Eraser: Remove unwanted objects or people from your photos with ease.
* Photo Unblur: Sharpen blurry photos and bring them into focus.
* Portrait Light: Adjust the lighting in your portraits to enhance the subject.
* Magic Editor: Use generative AI to reposition objects, change their size, and swap out the sky.
* Other features: Sky suggestions, Color pop, HDR for photos and videos, Portrait Blur, Cinematic Photos, Styles in the Collage Editor, and Video Effects.
Magic Editor Usage Limits
While Pixel users will have unlimited access to Magic Editor, non-Pixel users will have a limit of 10 saves per month. To remove this limit, you can subscribe to a Premium Google One plan with 2TB of storage.
Rollout Timeline
The rollout of these features will begin on May 15. It will take several weeks for all Google Photos users to receive the update.
In a statement, Google said, “These features make it easier for everyone to enhance their photos, no matter their device or subscription status.” By making these AI tools free and accessible to all, Google aims to democratize photo editing and make professional-looking results available to everyone.
