Rashid’s Level 2 Super Receives a Creative Punishment in Street Fighter 6
In the realm of fighting games, few things are as satisfying as finding a creative punish for an opponent’s powerful move. And when it comes to Street Fighter 6, Rashid’s level 2 super is certainly one of those moves that can be tough to deal with.
A Devastating Move
Rashid’s level 2 super, known as “Whirlwind Shot,” unleashes a massive, multi-hitting tornado that can’t be jumped over. It also enhances a lot of Rashid’s moves and movement, making it a cornerstone of his gameplan. But with great power comes great risk, and finding ways to counter this super is essential for any player who wants to succeed against Rashid.
A Brilliant Counter
Recently, top player Kakeru showcased an incredibly intelligent counter play for Rashid’s level 2 super. By using Zangief’s level 3 super, Kakeru was able to catch Rashid in a vortex and secure a knockout.
A New Punish Emerges
However, a new punish for Rashid’s level 2 super has surfaced, and it’s one that you gotta see to believe. This clip comes from a Zangief player named TheSticky, who shared the amazing highlight on Twitter.
The Perfect Read
The highlight begins with the Rashid player tossing out a raw level 2 super from further away on screen. Both players have one round on the board at this point, but with TheSticky sitting at the life deficit they clearly needed a big play to turn the tides and secure the victory.
Well, said big play was locked and loaded as the Zangief player whiffs a regular throw in front of the tornado, then fires right into Gief’s level 3 super. Reading the opponent perfectly, the Rashid player attempts the buffed up Spinning Mixer to begin some offensive pressure — which is a very common tactic after level 2 super is in play — and as a result, Rashid spins right into the level 3 super leading to a knock out and Gief winning the game.
Brilliantly, TheSticky whiffed a regular throw here not only to psych the opponent out, but also to stay grounded and buffer the 720 motion to perform the level 3. The timing and read were perfect here, and as a result, Zangief was able to snatch Rashid right up and close out the game.
A Cautionary Tale
While this punish is incredibly creative and effective, it’s important to note that it’s not something that should be attempted by everyone. The timing and execution required are very precise, and it’s easy to mess up and leave yourself open to a counterattack.
However, for those who are confident in their abilities, this punish is a great way to turn the tables on Rashid and secure a victory. Just be sure to practice it in training mode first to get the timing down.
