Trindall’s absence is a major blow to the Sharks, who are currently leading the NRL ladder. The 24-year-old has been a key part of the team’s success this season, forming a strong halves partnership with Nicho Hynes.
With Trindall suspended, coach Craig Fitzgibbon has been forced to make changes to his lineup. Daniel Atkinson will start in the halves for the Sharks’ clash against Canberra on Sunday.
Club Statement
In a statement, the Sharks said they were “extremely serious” about the incident and were providing Trindall with “the necessary welfare support.”
“The club has since followed the appropriate protocols within the player’s contract and (collective bargaining agreement) and continues to work with the NRL integrity unit,” the statement read.
Trindall’s Response
Trindall has not yet publicly commented on the incident. He is due to appear in Sutherland Local Court on May 17.
