Once players have been nominated, they will be invited to attend a selection camp. The selection camp will be held in Stellenbosch from April 24-26.
At the selection camp, players will be assessed on their rugby skills, physical fitness, and mental toughness. The best players from the selection camp will be selected for the Junior Springbok squad.
The Junior Springbok squad will compete in the U20 Rugby Championship in Australia from May 19-June 11. The U20 Rugby Championship is a new tournament that will feature the top u20 rugby teams from South Africa, Argentina, New Zealand, and Australia.
The Junior Springboks will be looking to win the U20 Rugby Championship in their first year of competition. The team will be coached by Bafana Nhleko, who was the assistant coach of the South Africa U20 team that won the World Rugby U20 Championship in 2023.
Nhleko said he is confident that the Junior Springboks have what it takes to win the U20 Rugby Championship.
“We have a talented squad of players and I believe that we can compete with the best teams in the world,” said Nhleko. “We will be going to Australia with the aim of winning the championship.”
