Giants Stun Dodgers in Walk-Off Thriller
In a dramatic turn of events at Oracle Park, the San Francisco Giants rallied from a late deficit to stun the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-3 in a walk-off victory.
Dodgers Dominate Early
The Dodgers took an early lead in the fifth inning when Gavin Lux drove in a run with a double and Will Smith followed with an RBI single. The Giants responded with a solo home run by Luis Matos in the bottom half of the inning.
Chapman’s Homer Flips the Script
In the sixth, Matt Chapman launched a two-run homer off Dodgers reliever Daniel Hudson, putting the Giants back in front 3-2. However, the Dodgers tied it up in the ninth when Andy Pages scored on a Jason Heyward sacrifice fly.
Walk-Off Heroics
With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Blake Treinen walked Luis Matos. After a review overturned a potential double play, Brett Wisely stepped up to the plate and sent a towering two-run home run into the right-field bleachers, giving the Giants the walk-off victory.
Key Performances
Logan Webb pitched seven strong innings for the Giants, allowing just two earned runs on five hits. Camillo Doval earned the win despite blowing the save in the ninth, and Wisely became the hero with his game-winning hit.
Dodgers Disappointment
The loss snapped the Dodgers’ four-game winning streak and ended their series-opening victory over the Giants. Shohei Ohtani’s 10-game RBI streak came to an end, while Miguel Rojas’ streak of wins in games where he collects a hit ended at 24.
Aftermath
With the win, the Giants moved within three games of the Dodgers in the NL West standings. The two teams are set to face off again on Saturday in a game that will feature Tyler Glasnow of the Dodgers and an unnamed Giants starter.
