Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, a nationwide foot march spanning over 6,700 kilometers, culminated in Mumbai today, marking a significant moment of opposition unity ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The yatra, which began in Manipur two months ago, traversed more than 100 Lok Sabha constituencies across 15 states, including Assam, West Bengal, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Maharashtra.

The closing event in Mumbai was attended by key allies, signaling a consolidated effort to present a united front against the ruling party. Dignitaries such as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aaditya, Sharad Pawar, and Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren were present, alongside former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has been a follow-up to last year’s Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanniyakumari to Kashmir and is credited with contributing to the Congress’s assembly election victories in Telangana and Karnataka. The yatra’s message of ‘nyay’ (justice) resonated with the public as it aimed to raise awareness about the realities of the country.

In his speeches, Rahul Gandhi emphasized the need for unity and the importance of standing together for democracy and the Indian constitution. He also reiterated the Congress’s promise of a caste census and pledged financial support for poor women, promising Rs 1 lakh every year in their bank accounts if the Congress returned to power.

As the Lok Sabha elections approach, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra stands as a testament to the opposition’s commitment to justice and unity, and Rahul Gandhi’s message for the opposition is clear: it’s time to come together for the nation’s future.
