On March 7, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Srinagar to participate in the “Viksit Bharat, Viksit Jammu Kashmir” programme. The programme was aimed at showcasing the development that has taken place in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019.
The Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of several projects worth over Rs 5,000 crore, including a new AIIMS hospital, a 4-lane ring road around Srinagar, and a hydro-electric power project. He also addressed a public rally at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium.

In his speech, the Prime Minister emphasized that the development of Jammu and Kashmir was a top priority for his government.
