Hyderabad’s Biryani Love Affair:

Hyderabad, known for its vibrant biryani scene, topped the chart with over a million biryani orders during Ramadan. The city also ordered an impressive 5.3 lakh plates of haleem, a traditional meat stew served with bread or rice.

Haleem Dominates in Lucknow and Bhopal

Haleem, a popular Iftar dish in Lucknow and Bhopal, also saw a significant increase in orders. Lucknow recorded a whopping 1454.88% surge in haleem orders, while Bhopal saw a 78.21% increase.

Sweet Indulgences for Iftar

While biryani and haleem reigned supreme among savory dishes, there was also a surge in orders for sweet treats during Iftar. Malpua, a fried pancake dipped in sugar syrup, saw a 79.09% increase in orders. Phirni, a creamy rice pudding, also gained popularity with an 80.97% increase.

Iftar Trends

Swiggy’s data also shed light on the timing of Iftar orders. The platform witnessed a 34% increase in Iftar orders between 5:30 pm and 7 pm during Ramadan. This indicates that people were placing their orders closer to the time they were breaking their fast.
