In the upcoming film “A Family Affair,” Zac Efron portrays a fictional movie star named Chris Cole. To add authenticity to the role, the filmmakers incorporated a highlight reel featuring both real and made-up footage of Efron’s career. Among the fabricated moments was a hilarious parody of a “Hot Ones” interview hosted by Sean Evans.
“We had originally shot a full episode of ‘Hot Ones,’ which I’m sorry we don’t get to show,” said director Richard LaGravenese. “It was filled with funny improvisations and stuff.”
Impromptu Shenanigans and Amusing Antics
Efron and Evans apparently went off-script, resulting in a slew of impromptu moments that kept the crew in stitches. “We had four cameras, and the two of them went at it, like over and over. It was really fun to film,” added LaGravenese.
While the entire fake interview didn’t make it into the final cut due to time constraints, snippets of these comical improvisations can be glimpsed in the film’s opening sequence.
A Taste of the Real Deal
For those unfamiliar with Sean Evans’ popular Hot Ones series, it involves celebrities eating increasingly spicy chicken wings while answering questions about their lives and careers. Efron has actually appeared on a genuine episode of Hot Ones in 2020.
While the fake interview featured in “A Family Affair” may not have been as fiery in terms of spice, it certainly promised to be just as entertaining and memorable.
