SVC Chaos Gets Steam Re-Release, Console Versions Coming Soon

SNK has been busy at this year’s Evo, thanks to three separate announcements presented during the show. Along with new characters for two other games, the company also announced that SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is back, and PC players can download it today via Steam–with PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions dropping on Monday.
What’s New in the Re-Release?
The return of SVC Chaos adds multiple enhancements to the 2003 fighting game. These include hitbox indicators for precise training sessions and a gallery filled with stunning artwork. Multiplayer sessions have also been upgraded with rollback netcode, allowing for smoother online matches. Nine-player lobbies and a variety of tournament formats are also included.
Expanded Playable Roster
The playable roster in this re-released version boasts 36 characters from both Capcom and SNK. The characters range from well-known fighters like Street Fighter’s Ryu and Ken to characters like Terry and Mai from Fatal Fury. The roster also features some lesser-known but equally exciting characters like Mars People from Metal Slug (SNK) and Tessa from Red Earth.
Secret Bosses Now Playable
Another exciting addition is the unlockable secret bosses from the original arcade version. Players can now start the game with Athena and Red Arremer, adding an extra layer of excitement right from the beginning.

A Brief History
SVC Chaos first launched in July 2003 as an SNK-backed project in the Capcom Vs. SNK partnership. Capcom had released two crossover games on its own–Capcom Vs. SNK and Capcom Vs. SNK 2–before the partnership came to an end. The series brought together characters from both companies who were essentially rivals in the 90s fighting game scene.
SNK producer Yasuyuki Oda mentioned in an interview last year that there was interest from both sides in reviving the SNK vs. Capcom series. The reaction from fans at the Evo posters reconfirmed the demand within the fighting game community.
Release Details
