Basim’s Story in Assassin’s Creed: Expanding Beyond DLC
Following the release of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft has hinted at the potential for future exploration of protagonist Basim’s story beyond the standalone game.
Ideas on the Horizon
In a recent Reddit AMA, Creative Director Stephane Boudon confirmed that while Mirage was designed without planned DLC, they have “ideas on how we could extend the story of Basim.” This suggests that while Ubisoft is not currently pursuing DLC for Mirage, they are considering other avenues to continue Basim’s narrative.
Possible Avenues
Without DLC, Ubisoft could explore Basim’s story through:
- A direct sequel to Mirage.
- A standalone expansion, similar to previous Assassin’s Creed games.
- A cameo appearance in a future Assassin’s Creed installment.
No Immediate Plans
However, it’s important to note that Boudon reiterated that there are currently “no post-launch content planned for Mirage.” This means that any further exploration of Basim’s story is purely speculative at this point.
Other Developments
In related news, Ubisoft has confirmed that Basim’s sword from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be available through Ubisoft Connect without the need for a Twitch Drop. Additionally, the company is working on a non-lethal knockout option for future installments but has not confirmed its inclusion in Mirage.
Looking Ahead
Ubisoft’s commitment to expanding the Assassin’s Creed universe is evident in its multiple ongoing projects, including Codename Hexe, which reportedly features a playable feline character.
With the potential for future content and Basim’s compelling backstory, the Assassin’s Creed franchise promises continued exploration of its rich lore and intriguing characters.
